about the artist

Born in Montreal Canada, Alicia Marulanda has pursued drawing and painting from an early age, and received formal training in Illustration and Design at Dawson College, where she graduated in 2012.

Since then, she has continued her artistic practice with a focus on acrylic painting, experimenting with light and colour to reveal inner landscapes shaped by memory, emotion, and dreams. Through the painting process, she reconstructs the lingering impressions left by personal recollections, and invites the viewer to reflect on the fluid relationship between perception and emotional truth.

She finds inspiration in love, family, and nature, and explores her own sense of belonging and identity in evolving social and domestic structures. Currently based in Toronto, she balances her practice with a career in opticianry.
